Good news on cancer front. I hate the rest in your update. It’s never ending and the societal pressures for our fam with 3 teens is becoming untenable. I don’t know how to know from experts what this virus is capable of, seeing it first hand in our fam and ignore it so we can participate in life. Lastly, I’m in Duluth … if you figure out a solution to obtain Plus Life tests, will you message me.
The Sato Lab algorithm that focuses ONLY on the spike protein to assess viral fitness might work quite well in cell culture, but in a living being might be a different matter. This algorithm suggests that the non-structural proteins of SARS-CoV-2 don't matter. I'm not sure I would take that bet. Consider the accessory protein Nef in HIV. When Nef is present, viral replication is significantly enhanced. NB.1.8.1 might represent an excellent test case. We will see.
Skip the skin ink. If you do choose to get one, make sure it contains a lot of iron based pigments so that your next MRI will remind you how foolish you were.
